Good Riddance

Some women are like a storm
At her worst, she will destroy you
You’ve let her in so far into your heart
That when she finally strikes, and leaves
All that’s left inside you will be the emptiness

They’re like a demon you made
Let her nestle inside of you
Nurtured on love and affection
But in her fury she’ll burn all
The fire consuming you whole
And all that’s left of your soul will be the charred remains

Cursed to an eternity beyond her
You’ll never love like that again
You’ll never hurt like that again
You’ll cry in silence as you cannot tell
For you’ll only be the fool who loved the beast

Some women are like an epiphany
Perfect and precious to you in ways you cannot fathom
But there’ll come a day when you no longer have her
And the rest of your life will be lived like a machine
Going through the motions in melancholy

You may love again, another woman
You may hurt again, for another woman
But there will be none again, like her
A beautiful storm when she smiled
A soothing demon when she embraced
A gentle beast when she kissed
And she was yours, in a time and a place
That your tired mind can no longer remember
